Description

Quick answer

This is a late-availability offer, not a different course. When a trainer has a cancellation we release the full Level 2 Food Safety group course at a heavily discounted flat price for up to 12 people at your premises, including the trainer, books, exams and certificates. If no date is showing in the selector, there is no slot available right now. They come up at short notice, so it is worth checking back or asking us to tell you.

How this works

Courses get cancelled and postponed. The trainer’s day is already committed, so rather than lose it we release it at a price we could not offer as a normal booking.

Nothing is cut down. Same six-hour Level 2 qualification, same assessment, same certificate, same trainer, in your own kitchen. What you are buying is our scheduling problem.

The trade-off is that slots appear at short notice, there is usually only one, and the date does not move. For a kitchen that can free up twelve people on a given day, it is the cheapest route to getting a team certificated. If you need to choose the date, take the standard group course.

What you need in place

  • Your premises. A room that seats everyone, ideally with the kitchen available so the examples can be yours
  • Up to 12 people. The price is for the course rather than per head, so a full room is the point
  • Availability on the date shown. These are not movable

Who should be on it

Anyone handling open or high-risk food: kitchen and catering staff, front of house serving unwrapped food, care homes, schools, pubs and takeaways.

People who never touch open food need Level 1 rather than Level 2, and a supervisor who owns your food safety management system needs Level 3. It is worth getting that right even on a discounted slot, because a certificate at the wrong level is not proportionate training.

What the course covers

The full syllabus is on the Level 2 Food Safety page. In short: food safety terminology and the law, the four hazard types, temperature control and recording, refrigeration and cold holding, cooking and hot holding and reheating, the food handler’s own responsibilities, safe storage, cleaning, and premises and equipment.

Worth knowing before you buy: the law does not require a Level 2 certificate. It requires food handlers to be “supervised and instructed and/or trained in food hygiene matters commensurate with their work activity”, and names no qualification. Level 2 is simply how businesses evidence it, which is why everyone expects it. We explain the distinction in do I need a Level 2 food hygiene certificate?

Checking availability

Look at the date selector above. A date listed means the slot is live. Nothing showing means there is no availability at the moment.

If you would rather be told than keep checking, call 0845 838 4643 or use the enquiry form. Knowing there is a group ready and waiting often decides whether we release a cancellation as a sale slot in the first place.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a shorter or reduced course?

No. Same six hours, same syllabus, same 30-question assessment, same certificate. The discount comes from filling a cancellation, not from cutting anything.

Why is there no date showing?

Because no slot is available right now. They come from cancellations and appear at short notice. Tell us you are interested and we will let you know when one comes up.

How many people does the price cover?

Up to 12 at your premises. More can be added at additional cost.

What is included?

The trainer, the books, the examinations and the certificates. You provide the venue and the people.

Can we change the date?

No. The price works precisely because the trainer’s day is already committed. If you need a date of your choosing, book the standard group course.

Is a food hygiene certificate a legal requirement?

No. The duty is to supervise, instruct and train food handlers commensurate with their work, and no qualification is named. Level 2 is the recognised evidence and is what inspectors and clients expect to see.

How long does the certificate last?

There is no statutory expiry. Refreshing every three years is the convention.

Do you come to our kitchen?

Yes, within Greater Manchester and the North West, and it is the better way to run it because the examples can use your own equipment and layout.
